Opening Reception - Light at Kehler Liddell Gallery in New Haven, Connecticut

The opening reception for Kehler Liddell's newest juried show, Light, was held this past Sunday.  I stopped in briefly on my way back from a weekend in New York City.  What a delightful show!

As a point of reference, my piece, a golden hand-knit bikini, is on the right, tacked to a velvet-wrapped board.  Scroll through the photos below and you will see some close-ups:

As a textile artist, I sometimes struggle with how to best display a piece.  In this case, the floppiness of the work had to be dealt with (hand knitting a bikini with thin, shiny yarn and then expecting it to "stand up" for display is problematic). I thought about tossing it over a chair or placing it strategically on a pedestal, but I ultimately decided to pin it to a board with tiny golden pins.
